Dr. Lauren Bagian is an Academic Director for the 1-Week Medical Academies.
She received her doctorate in Anatomy from The Ohio State University, and joined the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology at Georgetown University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in 2023. She has experience teaching anatomy to high school, undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, and currently teaches Gross Anatomy in the pre-clinical medical curriculum at Georgetown. Dr. Bagians research is focused on body donation and the important role of the dissection experience in anatomical education, and she is passionate about working to improve the body donation process in the United States.
Dr. Caitlin Coker is a Curriculum Developer and Academic Director for the 1-Week Medical Academies.
She has been an instructor for the academies since 2021, enthusiastically sharing her passion for the human body. Dr. Coker received her Ph.D. in Anatomy from Penn State College of Medicine. She joined the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology at Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2020. Dr. Coker is now co-director of the Medical Gross Anatomy course, part of the pre-clinical medical curriculum. She is also involved with teaching in the Special Masters Program in Physiology curriculum at Georgetown University. She has received multiple Golden Apple teaching awards and was elected as the 2021 SMP Teacher of the Year. In 2022, she was inducted into the Golden Orchard for her teaching efforts.
