As a student in our Summer High School Programs, you’ll have access to a wide range of technology resources provided by University Information Services (UIS) and Lauinger Library to support your academic enrichment and living needs. To explore all services available, please visit the Technology Services for New Students page.
Technology
Your NetID and NetID password are your keys to accessing many of the technology services you’ll need during your time at Georgetown. You’ll receive your NetID and a one-time-use password in your personal email account (for non-credit programs) or in your admissions account (for credit programs). After receiving your credentials, you should change the one-time-use password to a randomly generated password immediately. To change your password and to find more information about your NetID, visit the NetID & Passwords page. Be cautious and protect your password; do not use your password for social networking or any other websites.
You are required to enroll in Georgetown Duo, which provides an extra level of security for your Georgetown password and data.
All students must set up their mobile GOCard one week prior to their arrival on campus. For more information about GOCard services, please visit the GOCard page.
As a Hoya Summer High School Sessions student, you’ll receive a Georgetown University (GU) email address with mail forwarding. Your Georgetown email address is your NetID@georgetown.edu (e.g., Jack Hoya’s NetID is JH1789; their Georgetown Email Address would be JH1789@georgetown.edu). You can set up mail forwarding to have messages forwarded directly to any other email account you have (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.). All GU communication will go directly to your GU account. Students must check their GU email daily prior to arrival and while they are on campus for class/campus updates, assignments, announcements, and all other GU-related communication.
Most academic buildings, public spaces, and all residence halls have secure wireless called SaxaNet, so there is no need to purchase a router. Just use your NetID and password to log in. Please ensure that you are logged on to SaxaNet as soon as you arrive on campus. Important: The Mobile GOCard and Switch Tech apps will not work unless the student’s mobile device is connected to SaxaNet. If you need a wired connection in your residence or assistance with campus technology, please contact the University Information Services (UIS) Student Help Desk for assistance.
Public computer labs with printers are available in academic buildings and libraries across campus. Print stations located in residence halls are open 24 hours a day, but are only accessible to hall residents. For more information about printing on campus, visit the Student Printing page.
