Bio and Featured Works

She focuses on the construction of Subaltern identity in literary, scientific, and historical accounts. Thorne's research analyses colonial and contemporary counternarratives and countervisualities of the colonized and formerly colonized and enslaved subjects. Her dissertation and current book project, Poetics and Politics of Flight: Santiago de Cárdenas, the Literary Writing of Science and the Emergence of Decolonial Thought, studies the work of the early ornithologist and decolonial thinker Afro-Peruvian Santiago de Cárdenas (1720-1789).
